Will and Chris

Will Smith assaulted Chris Rock on stage w an auditorium of ppl witnessing . . it’s a crime, but there is a near-zero chance a jury would find Will guilty of a crime. Stanford White in the early years of the twentieth century was shot and killed in an NYC theater with many witnesses, and he was acquitted. The jury felt White’s killer was justified. Will used and open hand, and Will will face no consequences. The academy format does not barricade the stage, so an unauthorized visitor to the stage is difficult to stop. Like all sports . . . academy will have to have and enforce penalties, but it seems this is the first on-stage crime of it’s type at the Academy Awards.
