fat and active

middle-age American living in New Jersey near the Lincoln Tunnel << Nearly sure I’ll keep my pledge and read more about this hunter-gatherer study in Africa and write more when I know more, but at this point I’ve watched two YouTube vids including VOX last night. Increased activity has little effect on reducing one’s weight. The researchers got unexpected results learning these never-stop never-slack African hunter gatherers living the way their ancestors lived consumed no more calories than people with much lower activity. As VOX describes: humans burn calories three ways: ONE: operate the body ie. pump the heart TWO: digesting food THREE: activity. The amount of burning from activity is much smaller in proportion to total burning than previously thought. In my words I feel like I knew this . . . in my life to date as an active skinny person I see people exercise and not lose weight. With the internet time and time again these fat active people are often asked what they’re doing wrong. I’ve never had reason to ask this question. My activity has never been to lose weight, and rather more natural lifestyle momentum from childhood to my current age. The positive effect of being active is so great I think it’s bullshit to also burden activity with weight loss expectations. >> Tom Doody
