NYC mass transit tourism

middle-age American living in New Jersey near the Lincoln Tunnel << Hana, my wife, and I are touring via mass transit on the weekends, and this past holiday weekend was especially good with Yemen food in El Bronx on Thanksgiving, and Polish food in Greenpoint Brooklyn on Sunday. There are two things making our mass transit touring a regular practice for us: ONE: the pandemic pushed us to travel locally TWO: we have no car FOUR: the pandemic pushed mass-transit planned programs and pushed rushed programs to contact-free fare payments. We pay an ez-4every1 system that might include an app, or OMNY. There are two problems that we plan for, but for spontaneous riders it’s a problem: ONE: SBS MTA still requires a loaded metrocard or enough quarters . . no app alternative TWO: Path still requires turnstyle passage with a unique Path payment . . . . no app alternative. Dear kind readers: Since you’re still reading this might be a kind of travel you’ll consider. Hana’s pics on instagram and facebook feature our recent trips. For trip planning the following shortlist is something to keep. Sincerely, Tom Doody. NY Waterways is a NJ hub ferry system in the Hudson River TWO: City Experiences app has a two-point ferry from Jersey City to WTC THREE: NYC Ferry Wall Street East River hub FOUR: MTA buses, trains, and Roosevelt Island cable car (SBS bus gr8 but still old-school tickets) FIVE: NJT bus hub PABT train hub Penn Station, light rail Hoboken, Newark, and Trenton SIX: LIRR hub Penn Station SEVEN: Metro North hub: GCT SEVEN: Staten Island Ferry EIGHT: citibike. >> Tom Doody
