Google maps compass

middle-age American living in New Jersey near the Lincoln Tunnel << As a tourist in Italy I learned to use the compass in google maps to my advantage. I was touring Puglia Italy with my wife, Hana, and we made the change from mostly following turn-by-turn directions to walking in the direction of our destination without having our attention on street names. It’s proved to have no value upon returning home, because I’m never disoriented. As a tourist it was remarkably easy and helpful. Dear kind readers: If you ever think using the google map compass might help you then right now . . take a minute. Sincerely, Tom Doody. There is an arrow on google maps that will put the blue GPS dot in the center if it’s not already there. Tap that arrow multiple times until the compass spins free. Looking at the phone, spin your body in a circle until the North on the compass points to the top of the phone. Now phone is properly oriented to the land. >> Tom Doody
