¿Sorry? not sorry

middle-age American living in New Jersey near the Lincoln Tunnel «« The South Africa Sunday Times has two noteworthy conspicuous stories: ONE: corruption including hush money TWO: pedophilia. The first story exposes an email, “read by the Times” offering hush money including a plan to make the payment look legit. Often times secrets that get unsecreted in this fashion point to bonafide crimes that are effectively prosecuted, and most times it’s a public splash and trashed reputations without a trial. Like many metoo claims in the US men like Bill O’Reilly express zero regret, and claim a hit job from their enemies. Bill accumulated wealth and status, and he remains wealthy, not incarcerated, and his status damaged. The two stories in today’s South Africa news combined with Bill O’Reilly and the many other cases of lost status from unsecreted secrets represent possible injustice, but I read a society open to solving its ugly secrets.
