eye’m a tourist

middle-age American living in New Jersey near the Lincoln Tunnel «« Dear my Indian amigo considering a NYC visit: Esperanza’s place will house you, your two coworkers, and your car for a hundred a night. Bus fare from Esperanza’s barrio is 3.50 USD each trip to NYC, and a seven-day unlimited metro card for the NYC subways and buses is thirty two USD. If you let me guide you your food costs can be as low as staying home. The cost goes up from there including cabs, uber, museums, tall buildings, tour buses, shopping, fine dining, and drinking. You can spend a fortune every hour or you don’t have to. You can visit NYC with a high-level of self control and walk around for free. Visit NYPL library and talk to a librarian about free and fun activities. An alternate to an MTA metrocard is Citibike, which costs about the same and is better, but intimidating for most tourists. You’re from Chennai with crowds and population comparable to NYC, so the intimidating might be overstated. Above all don’t do what Americans are told to do when they visit NYC . . . DON’T attempt to hide the fact that you’re a tourist. ¿I’m a tourist can you direct me to MoMA? . . yes . . . this is a good way to ask a question. New Yorkers are famously rude and the fame is mostly earned, but it’s limited to people they think are locals, and all New Yorkers will be kind to tourist even if they bitch about tourist with their friends . . . repeat after me ¿I’m a tourist can you direct me to MoMa? ciao Tomas »» about me 302-990-2346 contact us
