UA ¿Villain?

middle-age American living in New Jersey near the Lincoln Tunnel «« United is not a villain in today’s leggings controversy. Three passengers were denied boarding in Colorado for a flight destined to Minnesota, because they were not compliant with dress code. ¿Que pasa? ¿Flight passenger dress code? The people denied were given the opportunity to change. One had a change of clothes with her, and the other two missed the flight. During my work as a food scientist I managed a food manufacturing plant dress code including writing, publishing and enforcing the local policy. We had a corporate no-beard policy, and Ed was my most memorable problem. Ed’s fast-growing dark beard made him look at the end of twelve hours like most men look after several days of skipping shaves. The simplicity of, “no beard” at the corporate level where beards were permitted was a bitch to enforce locally. The geniuses at United ten years ago decided “no leggings” was a reasonable rule given it was only required of employees and dependants of employees during company-employment-benefit flights. Ten years passed and no one could have predicted how twitter makes this corporate dress code ripe low-hanging fruit. Grazie to United Airlines for putting a buzz in the the Sunday of many people including me. »» about me 302-990-2346 contact us
