Arnie’s Army

middle-age American living in New Jersey near the Lincoln Tunnel «« Dear Bro: I had a sense from childhood that being born into the Twohey family would have been cool. Though I was not developing, and I did not have reason to develop an exit plan being among our California cousins was always attractive. As I approached middle age my reason for a Doody exit plan developed. I was sure I had no interest in severing the relationships that bound my first wife, Angie, to the Doody’s, and since no one can halt the prevailing need to choose sides I needed a Doody exit plan. Damn a couple of years later David died, which made my inclusion in family urgent, and our cousins performed brilliantly. Casualty Meg stepped into a sister role and Brian and Kevin reinforced what always felt brotherly, and . . . but . . . and, the xfer was not consummated. ¿Would could possibly consummate the xfer? ANSWER: a wedding invitation. I, Hana too por supuesto, have been invited to Max and Briana’s wedding. Today has been emotional with a validating comment on a deeply emotional youtube vid. The expression of gratitude and compliment came from the woman who wrote the script to this vid. I also had to call Santiago Chile getting an urgent document into the hands of the anxious intended recipient. I handled the Chile drama partly mid-share-bike ride and partly Starbucks, and then I stepped next door to my rented UPS mailbox — wow what an emotional climax to an emotional day. The second reason you’re on my mind: Arnie Palmer . . . His charm was active in our childhood home though it took his death for me to learn about Arnie’s Army. I don’t think I knew anyone with a valid Arnie’s-Army membership though I feel like the Doody household earned an honorary membership. Please know I am good and happy to share this joyous wedding moment with you, and share in the memory of Arnie Palmer, ciao Bro . . .
