Though I don’t accept your assertion that the Maine was sunk by people other than the Spanish, I do accept the US was the aggressor, and by the sinking of the Maine or some other triggering event we were going to war over Cuba, which would, por supuesto, put our countries at odds on islands in multiple hemispheres.
