I’ve flipped over NC

middle-age American living in New Jersey near the Lincoln Tunnel «« I have reversed my opinion related to North Carolina’s voter suppression.  It seemed the now-unconstitutional law that would have prevented the voter suppression actions by the state would be replaced and it was only a matter of being patient for North Carolina to work it out.  I also had a sense that I am not a resident of North Carolina, and it was a matter for the state.  As we are seeing in Syria and Egypt now when people do not have a voice in their government, then government can be twisted by those who are in control until it’s a global problem, so outsiders must pressure change that is in the best interest of the people being governed.  Under the leadership of Pinochet of Chile people who did not agree with him were tortured and killed on a large scale, and eventually outside pressure forced an election, which he lost.  Dear kind readers: Please imagine a brutal dictator getting voted out – outside influence is required and it is our responsibility to pressure a government that claims to be democratic, but isn’t.  Sincerely, Tom Doody.  The alternate subject of converting countries to democracy is one that remains unsettled for me, so I can only state with conviction that countries claiming to be democratic must be pressured to be democratic.  The Economist that highlights efforts in Japan to twist the voting process in favor of the people in power.  The shame that should be triggered by overt self-serving choices that might exist in a person often fails when that same person is in power.  Euphoria of popularity leads people to believe they are serving the people by staying in power.  I told Adam I reversed my opinion last night, which was both good and bad.  BAD: Why did a little text in The Economist flip me when all of his shouting did not?  GOOD: I am now united with him on this subject.  I make the following pledge: I am going to do something to pressure the democratic elections of North Carolina. »» about me 201-490-9659 Erika mortified nearlincoln@hotmail.com contact us
