I nominate Packy Malley ’83

middle-age American living in New Jersey near the Lincoln Tunnel «« Dear kind person at St. Ignatius Alumni: I nominate Packy Malley ’83 for the Honorable John V. Corrigan ’38 Distinguished Alumnus Award.  The criteria of the office and my comments follow: ONE has distinguished himself through outstanding achievements in his chosen field or profession.  To say Packy Malley has distinguished himself is an understatement.  Packy promotes music, and he is very successful.  There are thousands of people who rely on Packy to guide them to their social events and entertainment events.  His specialty is Jamaican Roots Reggae, which itself has roots in Christianity, and Packy does not just promote the music he promotes the people who play the music, and by doing so he supports a movement born to lift people above oppression that began in Jamaica in the 1930s.  I think of the Jesuits who have inspired me and helped me see opportunity, and it is easy for me to imagine musicians seeing Packy as I saw inspiring Jesuits.  TWO: uses his talents and skills for those in need, consistent with the theme, “Men for Others”  It is imaginable for a fellow alumnus to tie with Packy as a man for others, but it is impossible for me to imagine anyone to exceed Packy as a man for others.  Please don’t take my word for this.  Ask anyone who knows Packy, and he or she will describe a man who became a man for others as he matured into a man, and he is there for others with his generosity and kindness, and he does this consistently daily since he became a man.  THREE: serves as a positive role model for Saint Ignatius High School students through consistent application of high moral and ethical standards.  Packy’s family business and his high-profile entertainment events would be fodder for the media or law enforcement it he lacked moral and ethical standards.  I too have watched Packy closely since we were at Ignatius, and he is a great role model.  I would be please for my teenage son to be guided by Packy knowing his consistent application of high moral and ethical standards.  Please me at 201-490-9659 nearlincoln@hotmail.com.  This could be Packy’s year, and if not I’ll nominate him each and every year the two of us shall live.  Sincerely,  Tom Doody»» about me 201-490-9659 Randi Richards nearlincoln@hotmail.com contact us
