middle-age American living in New Jersey near the Lincoln Tunnel — Dear Fr. Murphy: Thank you for including me in the distribution of your August 15, 2011 letter. It did not have a subject, so I referred to it in my email to you as, “rape a boy letter”. I am one of persons in your distribution list who was not a victim or directly knowledgeable of criminal activity referenced. For me the letter triggered a continuation of what I did in high school, which was laugh about it. At the time there may have been some anxiety I felt for laughing about something that was not funny, but after laughing for multiple decades it is just a good laugh with classmates. You include an excerpt from policy, “immediately notify civil authorities”. Are you saying a teacher is required to notify the police before his or her boss? If so, I support the policy.
