middle-age American living in New Jersey near the Lincoln Tunnel — Dear Chris:  I just finished a long and good and funny conversation with Chuck Ramus, and then a short conversation with John Patton.  John would like Chuck’s number, and I sense it would be best for him to get it from you.  Chuck regrets that he hasn’t been in better touch with all of the common friends we have, but I assured him staying in touch with you over the years is the same as staying in touch with everyone.  He is also been in touch with Tom Brookover, but I have no sense that is the same as staying in touch.  You have never seemed far even though the map would say you’re distant.  Maybe you can do something to reconnect John and Chuck.  Your friend, Tom
