Jamie Oliver

The fire that rerouted my bus to New York this morning killed no one. I blogged that the fire was in Weehawken, but it was in Union City, New Jersey. My new favorite Vietnamese dish is muc chien don, which I had tonight at Nah Tran, Chinatown, Manhattan, New York. I also like empanadita de guayaba y queso, which I had this morning at La Gran Via, Union City, New Jersey. Jamie Oliver’s book of US food, people and kitchens is nice. It has become a signature style for him that I first read after he published a cooking tour of Italy. He charms his way into the kitchens of restaurants and homes and cooks and eats in intimate settings, While cooking shows and books are more and more common it seems like each cook is creating food in his or her own environment and even with his or her own cookware like Wolfgang Puck, but Jamie cooks in authentic settings. Jammie Oliver is a young man making a world of difference.
